Biddeford’s ArtWalk, held every last Friday of the month, is officially expanding to Saco and rebranding as Biddeford+Saco ArtWalk. This month’s event is Friday, March 29, from 5-8pm. Like us on Facebook! In addition to new venues in Biddeford including Saco River Yarns and Elements Books Coffee Beer, the ArtWalk is joined by Stone Soup Artisans, Vic & Whit’s, Saco Frame Center, and Vincenza’s Italian Bakery in Saco. These venues join the Saco Museum which offers free admission on Friday nights. Coming this spring, the Saco River Market will be open on the last Friday of the month for ArtWalks in addition to the regular Saturday morning market. The concept of the Biddeford ArtWalk was started in April of 2007 by two artists, Nancy Kureth and Jared Radding, based on Portland’s successful First Friday. The Heart of Biddeford and other downtown merchants and individuals organized a committee which helped turn the ArtWalk into a regular event. Originally on Thursday nights, the event moved to the last Friday of the month to attract more people. ArtWalk has been coordinated by Engine, a community arts organization, for the past three years. Photography by Biddeford City Manager John Bubier. Jaclyn Bosquet, an artist with a studio at the North Dam Mill, will be showing her mixed media work. Two lively murals by participants of Creative Trails, an art program situated at NDM are also in the Hallway. Students from the Biddeford High School Alternative Program will be displaying artwork produced at the mill with artist Ann Thompson. Come out and see the work on Friday, 5-8pm.
